This work on the One Page New Testament and Systematic Discipleship is based on a detailed analysis of the New Testament to create different levels of detail for Jesus’ followers to understand and seek to apply. It has involved a comprehensive consideration of Greek words and idioms and has encompassed reviewing circa 3500 Greek words and idioms (including duplicates which appear in different semantic contexts) and the checking of more than 86,000 verse references where these appear. Summary images of this ongoing work are outlined below.
We are now into the next phase, working through the New Testament again, book by book, and chapter by chapter, to consider the 14000+ verse references we have identified (related to the Greek words and idioms we have been reviewing) to check again for relevance to the Themes and sub-Themes we have been developing. This will result in a shaking out and probably some re-work to help finalise the underpinning data, and further refinement of the Theme titles etc..
Below we present the #onepagenewtestament in five diagrams (five layers of detail). Each one represents a single page perspective of Christian Discipleship drawn directly from the scriptures - the ‘One Page New Testament’. Each Theme or sub-Theme is a summary of the components below it. They target different audiences: from enquirers and new believers (or younger children) through to mature and dedicated disciples. The aim is to use them as a basis for introducing what the Bible has to say in a ‘top down’ manner - setting out some of the key elements at the upper levels and then proceeding into subsequent layers of detail. Each level comprises a range of actions and behaviours for us to try to put into practice - as we are led by the Holy Spirit.
There are a series of articles that accompany each of these images on the separate Faith Articles page on this website. Feel free to look at them to understand some of the scriptures that support the creation of the Themes we have been developing. Please note, however, that the early articles are now more than two years old and that no attempt has been to update or amend these materials as the analysis work has moved forward. Consequently there are some changes that have naturally occurred since they were prepared that are not currently available here.
The main colour diagrams of the 5 levels of detail (immediately below) will be updated from time to time on this page.
